Why are Axanthic BP so expensive?

addifan Feb 22, 2006 10:02 PM

The other post reminded me about this. I like the looks of the black and silver bp's. But why are these ones so pricey?

I read your post and it reminded me that I had put a hopper mouse in with one of my hatchling VPI Axanthics earlier. It had not shed yet after hatching so I didn't know if it would eat, but when I looked it had eaten and shed. I snapped acouple pictures. I think the reason they are so expensive is because it would take alot to make someone give up one of these.

Darn Nice VPI

ajfreptiles Feb 23, 2006 12:37 PM

Yeah those VPI axanthics are some of the most awesome ball pythons I have ever seen. They are the best axanthics hands down! Congrats on getting one. Andy Federico

They just can do so much for cross projects and look too awesome. VPI line is teh silver and blackist in our opinion.

What are some of the crosses made with axanthics? Does anyone have pictures to share?
Thanks Mike

They pull yellow out of anything...the famed snow is all white caused by the axanthic pullin gyellow out of the albino...the true ghost that no one has made yet...many more possible.

Well there is the snow (axanthic x albino)then there is the axanthic pastel, axanthic angolan ball but that is all I can remember seeing. Seems like I have seen more REd Axanthic crosses (or cross projects) lately than axanthics - would love to see a true ghost.

Tosha,

Just wondering if you knew who had produced this animal, and if you knew where any pics of it are.

Would love to see this!

Thanks in advance,
Dan

I love the looks of the black and silver, since I would have no plans to breed it, would it be worth the money?

Bighaze Feb 23, 2006 02:35 PM

Only you can answer that!!!

If you like it enough then yes it's worth it, if not, then no it's not.

Worth is in the eye of the eye of the beholder. What makes one pay more for one car over another or one brand of jeans over another...it's a very personal decision. If you love the color and can afford it then it was worth it to you...someone else who loves teh color less, etc., it's not worth it. They are very cool looking, not a lot of them are sold, and if you breed they can do some really neat stuff...only you can decide whether it's worth it or not. For me as a breeder they were my favorite from the start before we decided to breed and I wanted one bad...but that was my personal choice. My atittude is you only live once, and who wants to leave all of their money to their kids anyway
