I like the simple mixture of the expandable coco bricks mixed with orchid bark or the ABG mix.
Keep asking questions and researching! There are tons of ways to things.

ABG = Atlanta Botanical Gardens.. a great to place to visit to view some incredible plants.. They are also have some very nice frogs..
Their substrate mix is:
2 parts fine fir bark
2 parts fine tree fern fiber
2 parts milled sphagnum moss
1 part fine charcoal
1 part peat moss

I put a layer of brown sphagnum on top of weed cloth, then use a number of different substrates. Jungle mix, organic compost, anything without added fertilizers, leaf litter, especially oak leaves, cocoanut fiber--Lots of things work. Avoid anything with vermiculite or perlite in it. These particles can be a real pain in the butt in waterways, although they are great for house plant soils.
While it's a good idea to do searches and read all the books you can find on the subject, I do think forums are for answering questions personally, or they have no use. Don't be put off by the few rude people with no patience for your questions, because all of us started out as beginners, and we all like personal answers, or we wouldn't bother going to a forum with real people on it in the first place. The macho wonders who tell you to do it yourself have no business even reading a beginners forum, or acting superior. If they don't have the time or patience to answer your questions, they should just do their thing elsewhere and not respond at all. When you find and join a forum, you ARE doing a search.
