Fluker Farms Bad?

PoohBear03031 Jul 27, 2003 10:05 AM

I saw a post where someone asked where to get crickets, and three people said not to go through Flukers. I was just wondering why. I don't have a beardie yet, bit I have six leopard geckos. I just ordered 250 crickets from Flukers, and I don't want to give my babies anything that will hurt them. Please help with any info you have. Thanks.

People that have been around lizards for several years have seen some rather "poor" things come out of this company, several years ago it was diseased iguanas. Just last year it was very sick and dying bearded dragons.

they launched a website called reptile republic and as a promo where giving away bearded dragons daily to get user, they spammed all the other forums and list and got peoples Emails and spammed them to death, then they topped it off by sending out diseased bearded dragons that died shortly after arrival or spread infections to peoples existing collections or cost the "winner" a lot of money trying to save them... even when everyone was screaming about it and providing proof in lab reports they ignored it. Then they started filtering post an not alowing certain words, like adenovirus to be put on their forums..... finally after reports to numerous agencies and their forum board full of complaints they discontinued the contest. Recently they totally removed the website, which i thought was strange to leave it up so long.

Sadly as what happens in this industry, they hoped people would forget and launched products under several new names and companies, when others tried to collect the different companies and warn people, they were threatened with lawsuit for letting the public know.

Its not just the fact that put diseased animals into peoples homes, its the ethics they practised along with it and continue to do.... Just a few months ago I saw Howard Fluker at a show in Tampa and talking to people that had a table who were promoting a new Reptile website, the next day he had his people at the show handing out fliers of his new "auction/forum site".... NO table, no right to be doing that when other had paid for the right.... just very questionable ethic.... the concern IMO is more on the dollar than care of the pets, the owners that buy them or the proper way to do things.

Just go to the top of this forum under OLD archives located next to the swimming dragon(not the search engine on this new forum) and put in reptile republic in the search engine, that should more than answer all your questions as you read the post by people who won or bought animals that were imported into the United States by them. Very sad and I will never buy any product or support a company that has mistreated animals or single handedly wiped out so many other animals so severly for the sake of a dollar
