Breeding Questions!

medyssa Feb 23, 2006 01:36 PM

I am such a newbie, but I am trying to do this right, I have posted on here before and I think my Female has been doing better since. So far it has been about two months since I saw my male and female mating, I left them together for a week or so. She has been gaining weight slowly, and not moving around too much.
She shed about a month ago, and I Didnt know if they keep shedding continually if theyre gravid. She turned blue this weekend and should shed any day now.
Is this normal or a sign that she's not pregnant?
Anything is helpful right now, I'm pretty much going off of things you have suggested as well as a couple books on breeding, but not BRBS specifically.

How about some more specifics? I am gathering you tried to breed your BRB's for a week and your temperature was too hot. The female is gaining weight in 6 weeks and is in shed for the 2nd time during that timeframe?

Hoe old are your snakes? What temp and humidity have they had in the last few weeks? Are they eating? Are they in the smae enclosure? Did you cool them?

Just some basic questions....I think I remember your previous post, but could be wrong. You will find helpful suggestions on this forum...but only if you provide the details of the situation.

I have records of BRB's shedding periodically during gestation. I don't think it means anything. They don't seem to go through a pre-lay shed like some other snakes. It doesn't mean your snake is no longer gravid. I have found inactivity to be a good sign. Especially if they are choosing warmer basking areas. How's her appetite?
