She's a big, pretty girl. Nice cage. Is that a real plant?

Hi,

It is a plastic plant/vine that I found at Michaels. Tuki would crush real ones. Plastic plants have become very real over the last several years particularly when viewed from several feet.

The plant gets soaked in dishwasher detergent 3-4 times a year and has been replaced twice. The wood is from a wild cherry tree that was dried and then coated 4 times with exterior polyurethane. It can be cleaned by rubbing it down.

I have used peat moss as a substrate for 3 years with Tuki and spot clean daily. The key is to get the peat moss moist, not wet, and then keep it that way letting only the top dry out. Aspen is used for my other snakes except paper towels are used for our GTP. Both are easy to clean and to control moisture levels. Simple at times is best.

In my experience silk plant dyes are water soluble. I learned the hard way by misting them and watching the color run onto the substrate and into the water dish. Even soaking them several times in a bath tub did not help.

You dead on. She is between 61/2 and 7 ft (let her crawl along the hall wall, trying to use string with her didn't cut it) and she weighs in at about 91/2lbs. Tuki enjoyed the trip as I carried her to the bathroom scale but she didn't like the extra half pound.
