two more hook ups....lol

draybar Feb 23, 2006 08:21 PM

Ok my cinnamons hooked up...whoo...whoo!!!
and I checked my snow over and she has good body tone and was very active so I decided to go ahead and put her with a male anery. They hooked up almost imediately. Let's just hope her every-other-week feeding was due to her drive to procreate.

Now if I could just get those darn bairds rat snakes to hook up.
Man that is driving me crazy.

Ok here are the cinnamons

congrats!
have the two rats paired before? I know it is not necessary, but did they shed?
Kinda weird that they have not hooked up. I am sure it will happen soon. I now have to wait for my anery to shed. She is not interested yet, but hoping she will change her mind post shed. She is starting to lighten, so maybe about a week or so will be my second pairing!

Both pairs hooked up last season but they were apparently a little too young and thin.
They were 3 years old last year but not quite ready, I guess.
One female laid five eggs of which only three hatched.
They were beauties, though.
The other only laid four eggs and none of those made it.
This year they are 4 years old over 4 ft with good body weight so they should produce more viable eggs...IF THEY WOULD JUST HOOK UP!!
Yes they have all shed, males and females.
I will just keep trying.
Last year they didn't hook up until the second week of March so it may still be a little early for them.

Showoff! (Just kidding)

Those cinnamons are striking. Enlighten me; what goes into making a 'cinnamon?'

I tried last night to put my amel motley het caramel male with my '03 pastel ghost motley female. She was bred last year (not by me) a bit small, and was thin when I got her, and the amel male is a fast growing '04, also unbrumated. I don't think he's figured out what he's supposed to do, but she was trying to move herself into position for him.

They're the only two big enough to possibly breed this year. Cross you fingers for me.

Good luck! When did you get the adult pair? Hope all goes well! Let me know if you are still going to the Tampa show. If I get this new job, I will only be able to go if it is on a regularly scheduled day off. But please cross your fingers for the job too.

Talk to you soon.

It's my pastel ghost motley female that you held. She's been growing. I tried her with the amel mot male, who is growing well, but may be too young yet to know what he's supposed to do. I'll wait for another shed and try again.

Yes, I still plan to hit the Tampa show next month, and probably the one in Clearwater in April. Stopped by the little Orlando show for a few minutes today with my daughter before we went shopping

We've got to get together if I ever get over this cruddy cold.

cinnamons are hypomelanistic corn/great plains rat mixes (gutattus/emoryi)

They are both 02's

here is one of their babies from last year

Thanks for adding to my education! Really nice. I love the attitude in the second shot. I've got one like that...she thinks she's het for rattlesnake and cobra!
