Jimmy had to steal my spotlight!!!!!!!!!!

xblackheart Feb 23, 2006 08:46 PM

I was going to post how excited I am, but Jimmy stole my spotlight with another one of his hook-ups! LOL (congrats again BTW!)
I just had my FIRST EVER hook-up. I was planning on pairing my amel (with the funny tummy) to a sunglow, but he was not cooperating. I put in my snow corn and he did not hesitate. Took about five minutes for them to find each other and about 20-30 minutes for the deed.
The pics are of Gringo, the male (with my other male during brumation), Red, my amel and of the pairing. I did not want to disturb them, so that pic is not the best.
WOOOOHHHHOOOOO!! one down, one more corn pair to go and one king. Can't wait.

I try to take one day at a time but sometimes several days attack me at once!

Congratulations. I'm jealous too. A couple more years before mine are ready.

Thanks again for the email reply to the Rodentpro question.

Good luck.

Congratulations. I hope it all works out well for you. Just a tip for you that I have HEARD (may not be entirely true) But I have heard that it is not a good idea to breed on aspen bedding because it can get stuck on the hemipenis and cause an infection. Wouldn't want you to not be able to breed.

Thank you for the info. I think it is very possible. I do not feed on the aspen for fear of impaction/blockage, so I would imagine it could cause irritation elsewhere.

I place mine in a sterilite container with one paper towel in the bottom.
This makes it easy to see signs of copulation.

Those are some pretty snakes you have there, I bet you'll have some killer amel babies. I decided to just do one pairing b/c my second female was underweight, and I am expecting all normal babies. (Unless my female has some hidden het!) Anyway, I hope your other pairings work out well, you lucky duck!
