Tangerine Crosses?

AFTfanatic Feb 23, 2006 09:07 PM

Hey, I'm getting into a small breeding operation. I currently have an Albino Tangerine female and am getting a Tangerine male March 5. The breeders I've talked to have told me I'll get Tangerine babies from this pair. In april I want to get another female, but I don't know which morph. I want to maintain a mainly Tangerine bloodline, but Can I breed the male with something similar to a Tangerine? i really liked the look of the breeder's Carrot-Tail females, but what would the hatchlings look like? The value of the Tangerine hatchlings is high in my area, and I don't want to decrease it. If it's a bad combo, he has plenty of Tangerine females too. Thanx for any help!

Tangerine and Carrottail are both line bred mutations. Their are no guarantees when breeding these to similiar or disimilar geckos. You could breed your two tangerines and produce no tangerines! The higher quality parents, the higher quality the offspring will be. If you breed outside the lines, you are diluting the genes that causes a particular line bred mutation. If you desire a Tangerine project, stick with Tangerines. Adding Carrottail to Tangerine isn't anything new. It is extremely common to see Tangs with Carrottail. Why not find a female that is both Tang and CT?
