Humidity Help Plz

BayHead Feb 23, 2006 10:25 PM

Need recommendation for a reliable humidity/mister machine that will keep a Yellowfoot comfortable. Currently using Jungle Earth substrate as it is supposed to be good for humid enviornments, but open to changing this.

Thanks!

Hello,
I have redfoots that are not too different then your torts. I do two things. One is keep the substrate moist and you will find that the humidity down at ground level is much higher than even 1 foot above the subatrate. Remember that the tort spends most of his time right at ground level. The second is to have a humid hide. I do that by tacking a sponge to the roof of his hide and I have 3 holes drilled in the roof. Once a day I poor water into the holes and the sponge stays damp and the humidity in the hide is like 85%. Yet he is not in wet ground just wet air. Hope that helps.

Tom
