Pair Of Westerns.? Opinions Please.?

dexterdoolittle Feb 24, 2006 07:30 AM

The female is a Wild Caught specimen and is slowly coming over to defrost mice from fish.! She's starting to put nice weight on.
The male I picked up as a hatchling almost two years ago. As soon as I picked him up I noticed he was different in colour from most Westies.? In person he is very green in colour, the pics don't do him much justice.!? Any opinions appreciatted.?

She is just a little over 2 foot. She came in with quite a nasty scar down the side of her, looked almost like someone had put a shovel down her side. In the few months I have had her she has healed up nice and sheds wih ease, starting to look nice I think.! Atached is a pic of her when I first got her and she would only eat fish.!

I like hearing good recovery stories like that!

Fish are a real pain... I had a striped keelback snake (aka indonesian garter) and all it would eat was goldfish. I tried scenting pinkies... but he just wouldnt eat them. heck, it was more work taking care of the goldfish than the actual snake!

Watching snakes eat fish is pretty cool though. I like the way they slide down nice n' easy.

Interesting differences in size betweeen the sexes. How big do you reckon your male is? Where did you get him from? Going to mate them this spring?

The male is probably about 15 inches in total length, they have both been cooled in the hope that they produce together this spring. He was purchased from a guy who was just advertising them in the classfieds in the UK a while back.? I'm kinda hoping that there may be something genetic in his colours.? We live in hope.! Will post some pics of other Westerns I have soon.!

It appears to me that you have a green phase hog male. I have a similar one and I must say, it is really cool to see such a different color pattern on a hog! I just purchased a female green hog last summer to breen with my male green hog.
It is a nice change to see green breeders out their.

Cheers:
