Update on my sick little girl.

johnavilla Feb 24, 2006 09:31 AM

She looks like she is going into shed on her stomach and sides. These parts are going blue but her eyes don't seem to be clouding up. I rubbed her down with an antibiotic so I can't tell if she is blue on top because the antibiotic makes her rather dark coloration very shiney. Does this sound overly unusual? She just started looking like this yesterday, maybe I am over worried? If she starts acting worse (she still seems alert and active) I'll have the vet stop by immediatly but input from you guys is always helpfull too.

She'll probably shed several times in the next few months while she is healing - just part of the process - and most likely it will not be complete and she may have a difficult time of it depending on the extent of her injury. And yeah - the ointment may make it harder/worse for her to shed - but you've got to do what you have to do to keep her from getting an infection. Just curious, is she on antibiotics?

Best of luck with her!

an itramuscular of Ceftazadine every three days for four injections total. Do you think that a topical is overkill?
