ill beardie?

chris50 May 19, 2003 06:36 AM

Hi
My 11 month old, 19" male dragon has been off his food for two days. On Sunday he was acting lethargically in the morning, and was not very interested in food all day. He ate a tiny amount of watercress, a little carrot and and about 30 crickets later in the day, but this was over several meals, while usually he will never stop eating crickets given the chance. This morning he has been more active, but he is uninterested in crickets, and has eaten 7 handfed in total, and he ignored any that he actualy needed to move for. he showed more interest in mealworms, and he then ate a bowl of watercress. Is he ill, or has he suddenly just lost interest in crickets as he is nearly adult, and would prefer to eat veggies?
thanks

Have you had a fecal on him to rule out parasites or worms?

Also, think about getting rid of the watercress as a staple, add rich greens like dandelions, collards, mustard, and squash, peas, greenbeans, snowpeas, chopped up really fine or in a food processor

He seems much better today-I think that half the trouble could have been caused because I had a diffent specie of crickets... but I will get a fecal done anyway, and give him more green beans and dandylions, although he really prefers the watercress, and hates dandylion flowers...strange for a beardie
