and a few more

just a point of clarification...I did not produce the darker buckskin in the first post. IT was produced by Mitch Allen and purchased in Daytona last summer. Still a keeper

they are doing great russ. hope to see you soon. i took them off the aspen today. i am feeding tomorrow and i am just not taking chances anymore.

RussBates Feb 25, 2006 08:22 PM

uh...yeah.......

If I was one of those guys that was into inventing super-de-duper-de names, I'd have called that first one an Oakatee phase thayeri........but fortunately I'm not

It does have some very black outlining around the saddles.

I'll be calling you about the bull tomorrow.

all of these have been feeding away the entire winter...never missed a beat. I didn't want to accidentally take credit for something I didn't produce...only purchased.

How's NMexico these days?

It's been a really dry winter. Cold nights and mild days. I'm about to cut loose and pull my snakes out of brumation. I'm having some trouble getting my mice to start breeding though. I have some that bred through the winter so I froze some but probably not enough to keep my snakes fed into the spring. It looks like I'll be buying some mice this year. I put ALL of my snakes into brumation this year. I've already pulled out all of the 2004/2005 holdbacks, but I need pinkys to feed them. I've been buying some but need more. Hurry up mice! I sold ALL of my Cal kings over the winter. So now I'll have more mice for my montane kings.

How about Florida? Have you pulled your snakes out of the big chill yet? What all are you breedng this year?

sorry to hear the mice are not fornicating enough to meet your demand Now you feel my pain...of buying mice Really I feel lucky because there is a guy locally that I buy mice from (any size 20 cents) you can't beat that anywhere.

My snakes have been up since 27JAN and started feeding on the 5th of FEB. Most have eaten about 3 or 4 times and all are doing well. I only lost one snake during hibernation (applegate gopher).

As for breeding plans I am moving in June so I'm trying to decide what to breed and when to breed it. It'll will either be a very early start or very late and most likely no double clutches. That said it could still easily be a 60-100 thayeri hatchling year for me. I've got 3.6 ready to go and all but one is proven. Don't know as though I need to breed all of them but if I don't purposely breed them the females will go through the motion anyways and then it's kind of a waste.

This will also be my first real attempt at breeding the sonoran gopher colony (and I've got quite a few). I'm expecting blizzards, ghosts, hybinos, amels, hypos, and triple hets if all goes well.

I've got a pair of reverse striped cal kings and some corns but I'm not going to breed them....even though the corns are double het bloodred lavenders. Last year I finally had some project corns come full circle and produce 2 lavender motleys....I started with a lavender and milk snake phase motley corn....it took some time Corns are cool but the market is very flooded with them.

What about you?

That first remark was uncalled for. You just have a dirty mind. LOL.

I wish had a source for mice like you do. But if you're moving, you may need a new source or start raising your own.

Where are they moving you to? Good luck on that. I dont envy you, moving right in the middle of egg laying season. I'm sure you can get in at least one clutch from all of your snakes though.

I'm consentrating on my thayeri and I have a pair of alterna that I'm going to try too. It'll be the first time for the alterna so who knows. I may have a shot with a pair of pyros also. I've got a bunch of unproven first time thayeri so who knows how they'll turn out.

Good luck on your project this year buddy.

Man what kind of "Bikers" are they raising out there in New Mexico....fornicating uncalled for........jeeez

Good luck with those graybands...I've got one in my collection and if I could have someone guarantee me that I could it her offsping to eat without hesitation on pinks I'd breed her (though she's not ready). So for now she's just hanging in my collection eating for free and just looking good.

Did you bag any big elk this winter? Got pics?

Russ
P.S. Moving to VA.
