Finally, problem feeder......................

rdperry5 Feb 25, 2006 09:41 AM

He finally ate on his own

It was a f/t pinkie, no tuna water this time.
The pinkie had been in with him for about 30 minutes when he decided to give it a go on his own. I'm so proud- like a Mom with a youngster taking his first steps

Sometimes you have to wiggle it to get them interested. Once they learn what their food is, it gets easier and easier.

Congrats and good luck!

Congrats. It feels good to take a herp that would probably die and get him eating. And as the other post said, once they start (especially corns) it just gets easier. I have a fussy male hognose that has missed a few feeding. So I understand.

take care

That is good news! it is a step in the right direction. My problem feeder has eaten twice on its own at random intervals. It has been months since the last time, so I am still having to force feed her. She was at death's door, but I think I have pulled her back. If I have to force feed her for the rest of her life, I am willing.
Hopefully yours will keep eating on its own.

I try to take one day at a time but sometimes several days attack me at once!

Misty, many years ago about 1973? a friend of mine got a baby emerald tree boa. Had to force feed it from day 1. We though the big great through was when he would just place the rodent in the snakes mouth, trying to keep the emmy calm, and let go and she would eat it that way. That went on for almost 2 years. Then one day, he opened the cage, emmy popped forward, he held the mouse with forceps of course, and POW. From that day forward she was a pig. If anyone can figure out why herps are the way they are or control it, they will be vey very rich, and even more well liked. As a kid I hand fed WC chuckwallas for months on end. It wa alwasy good cool to see them eat on their own. I think we all still get that good feeling? I hope so anyways.
