Hey, new to the forums and had a couple questions. Recently baught a female veiled cham from the local pet store and was curious if there was any way to tell how old they are? all the pet shop could tell me was she was sold to them as a juvinile? she's about 3 inch's in length not counting tail. Other question... she as really nice and easy going. never hissed or had a problem with me... Untill i put a pothos plant in her cage. Now all the sudden she seems to be evil tempered.. she hiss's and strikes at me if i'm cleaning her cage or even putting fresh food into it. she's even moved towards me to attack my hand. Before i put that plant in her cage she would crawl onto my hand and eat waxworms, crickets out of the palm of my hand. Just curious if they could be related..

It could be because now you gave her an environment to live in with the pothos..so she thinks of it as her "house" and she wants to defend it. Chams usually don't like people reaching into their environment.

If she is about 3" long it sounds like she is around 3 months of age.

Also veileds usually become more aggressive after the first 3 months. My male veiled was very nice until about month 4. During months 3-6 he was pretty mean, but he is a lot nicer now.

Yup thats what she looks like. puffs out her chin and sucks in a bunch of air so she looks huge. Thanks for the info! hoping she acts like Dex and becomes nicer after the 6 month period.
