Mouth gaping???????

chucknation Feb 25, 2006 02:25 PM

I have noticed this behavior in my juvenile beardie for the last couple of days. She will climb to the highest point in her tank(the basking spot) and hold her mouth open for short periods of time. I use a 100w reptile basking lamp. Is the light too hot? Her basking temp ranges from 102 to 105. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

This is just Beardies way of cooling off...its like a dog panting... as long as she can get away from the heat and drinking water is provided she should be fine!
