substrate

I use cypress mulch for my snakes, and I was curious if that would be ok to use with my adult leos. If no, I'm going to use a sand/soil mix (from the Leopard Gecko Manual).

no I would not use it for leos. I use just paper towels for my leos. I use a play sand/soil mix in my Tokay geckos enclosure. Leos are not real good at catching prey items without getting substrate in their mouth.

I use paper towels for my hatchlings. I have nice "display" enclosures (I'll have to post pics one of these days) that I want nice "display" substrate. Which is why I use cypress mulch in with my snakes instead of paper towels. I feed outside of the enclosure, so that is not an issue (except with the hatchlings - and I leave a shallow bowl of vitaminized mealworms in with them 24 7).

Since cypress mulch isn't recommended...I go ahead with the mix of sand/soil.

I would say no, and I would highly recomend going with papper towels or slate, this way they cant get impacted. With sand or any loose substrate there is always a risk of impaction.

They will/can still gt impacted even though I do not feed in the cage???
