Can I put day geckos in this?

porkchop48 Feb 25, 2006 06:21 PM

This is the tank that I want to put giant day geckos in. Is it ok? The tank in the bottom is a ten gallon tank. that should give you an idea of the size of the tank. I knwo i need to add somemore vines and such but this is just a start of the tank till i get somemore ideas. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated

Are they adults? Give them more furnature and a few spots. They would go wild.

I would much rather put adults in there but i am unable to find any let alone adults. I do have a few more vines that i have ordered and im looking for some bamboo stalks. when you say "they would go wild" is that a bad thing. How many do you think i could put in there? I do have some more work to do to it but i want to get all my ducks ina row before i get them i would prefer to get them as a group

I use "go wild" as a good thing. Our animals are kept inthe largest enclosures available with live plants as to make the animals feel more at home. Some large bamboo vert. & horiz. would be nice along with a couple of large snake plants or corn plants. You may be able to split your enclosure and set it up for a couple of breader groups. Shoot me an e-mail campbell345@bellsouth.net and I may be able to find some one with larger geckos at their place they might be parting with. Later-

Hi there,

Thats definately a nice enclosure in which grandis should thrive (provided the lighting is more intense than it appears in the photo).

I have been keeping and breeding grandis for several years now and they are probably the most enjoyable herps I have ever worked with.

Unfortunately adults of the same sex will not tolerate eachother. You may be able to do 1.2 in a cage of that size, but its very likely that the less-dominant female will be harassed by the other female and will fail to thrive.

1.1 is really the only way to do more than one animal in the same cage (unless the cage is HUGE) and have them be happy.

Let me know if you have any other questions about this species.
