There are about a million breeders now for Pastels. Take your pick. Personally, I would avoid one of the Pastel "puppy" mills.

If someone doesn't know who to buy from how will they know who the "mills" are?

Who are the Pastel "puppy" mills??

Take a look on KS and you can get an idea of who they are. I recommend supporting the smaller breeder with the pastel purchase.

Hi Jay,
I understand what you are saying

But to be fair to the people in this business I have to say that not everyone that has specialized in breeding certain morphs should be branded as running a mill.

There are several breeders that are known for their Pastels, some who are known for their Albinos. Most have branched out into all morphs but they did at one time breed more Pastels or Albinos than anything else.

It's unfortunate that big breeders are thought of in such a way that people would rather buy from smaller breeders than them. Many of them don't deserve the criticism that is bestowed upon them. But then again, some of the wounds are self-inflicted.

I think that people should buy from whomever they feel most comfortable buying from, big or small, and I agree that the smaller breeders need to be supported by everyone, whether by verbal support or by purchasing animals ... after all, without the base levels of small breeders and hobbyiests that support the upper echelon *tongue-in-cheek*, this business would all tumble down.

I didn't say that, nor do I think that - I specialize myself . Those who take a particular animal with the intent of mass producing are the ones I'm talking about. There are only a couple out there - thankfully.

I have bought from both.

Not sure what criticisms you are talking about. I only know of one larger breeder "hit" with criticism and like you said, it's self-inflicted. But like you said, buy from who you feel comfortable with.

There's quite a few breeders out there that are mass producing ... and not just one morph, but all morphs.
