Went to a show.........................................

swich Feb 26, 2006 10:41 AM

and it was small, but GOOD!
This was my first time at a Repticon show and I had some mixed feelings about it. The quality of vendors was excellent, but the quantity of tables was not so great. This limited the vast variety of cool and unique animals I normally see at other, bigger, and more well known shows. Plus networking was not really able to be done with such a small show. The upside is, the vendors cost to run at these types of shows was minimal, thus savings were passed on to the customers. So BIG VALUES were a big plus at this show. I couldnt believe the prices on almost everything! It was so cheap that I bought several quality animals for what I would have paid for 2 at a normal show. I was also able to thouroughly inspect a great number of animals easier and quicker, without having to be pushed and shoved, like at the bigger shows. I took my time, got great help, and was able to shop at ease. The theft level seemed to be zero, so vendors were able to spend time promoting, and explaining their animals, insead of trying to stop people from ripping them off.
In all, it was a great show. I enjoyed it, I even bought a few things I REALLY DIDNT NEED!, but what the hec, its my hobby.
We as enthusiasts should support smaller and less known shows like this one, because it is a great venue to do what we like to do. If we can get some more interest in shows like this one, maybe networking, and more variety will come, but smaller shows have their own benefits too. Here are a couple of pics. Here is Michael Cole from Ballroom Pythons South showing a customer a ball python.
Enjoy

traffic was a bit slow on Sunday, but it was the first time (in Orlando) that this show was 2 days. I did twice the sales Saturday alone that I expected to do the entire show and lets just say that Sunday was a good good day... I know I'll see you around again at the Tampa show or at Michael's so keep me updated on how those two that you picked up are doing.

Great pics!! I think the smaller shows aren't as stressful and demanding on the vendors. Less stress = more fun.
And Michael Cole of Ballroom Pythons South is a great guy.

Nice post

Alligator eyes look nicer when you aren't sitting in a kayak staring at them from a few feet away.

It's not how many snakes you have. It's how happy and healthy you can keep them.

LOL I agree that was the first time I have seen one that close.
