Breeding questions...

boogman Feb 27, 2006 09:13 AM

I thought of posting in the breeding part of the forum, but it doesn't seem that there is a lot of traffic there. So...
I have a female('03)Anery 100% het albino paired with a male('04)Anery 100% het albino. They have been in the same cage for about a month and I have not seen anything that looks like courting. However, they are always on top of/or at least very close to each other all the time. The temps are good (I believe)...warm side is at 85-86 deg. and the cool side is at 74-75deg. I suppose that I have two questions: 1) Is it just too late in the season to expect them to breed? and 2)Should i perhaps replace the current male with the DH Snow I have waiting in the wings?
Any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If I have left out any pertinent details, please let me know. Thanks!

Well, there's a ton of variables, but basically it isn't too late, and I'd definitely see what the other male might do if the other is doing nothing. Temps. seem a little low in general IMO, especially if you take into consideration gravid boas tend to maintain around 88 degrees. Switch things up and see what happens. Take care

Paul, Thanks for the response. I'll make sure I get those temps up. The DH snow male is getting ready to shed, so after he does...he's goin in. Thanks

if your female was born in 2003, she might simply be too young to breed. age is more often important than size. This is especially true if she was a late 03
