Ok so i know the answer is eggs im not that dumb.

Last night my girlfriend caught my 9 month old geckos getten it on. I know i need to add a hide with some moist substrait in it for her to lay. I was wondering if 9 months is infact old enough to breed. I have heard from some that it is and some that it is not. I also was wondering how long it takes before the eggs come out. how often to supplement pinkeys. any other advice you guys might have would be awesome.

thanks
joel

IMO 9 Months is way to young. In fact my books say they should not be mated untill they are at least 18 months of age but others dont agree with that. I also hear that there is like a 50G minimum weight befor breeding. I am told that breeding to early can cause stunted grouth as well as a shorter life span in Leopard Geckos. I would sugest not housing them together "Even when they come of age" If you scroll down a few pages you will see I made this same mistake and they did in fact breed and Kirmy "Below" laid one egg witch was no good. I am hoping I did not do any damage by alowing them to breed to young however I still to this day notice that Alberto looks like a normal healthy Gecko while Kirmy just presents herself diferently. She is by all means healthy but just by watching her it apears that the stress I unfortunatly put her through did cause a problem with her development. Only time will tell I guess.

geckos are like people. take the teenagers of today. they can grow all they way till their 20s i on the other hand stopped growing at about 15. if i were 13 years old and had a kid i might grow a little afterwards but i definatly wouldnt rech my full hight. i also may suffer from some kind of deficiencies and other dificulties. the same way with geckos and anything else for that matter. kids having kids is not a good idea. some breeders do wait till their geckos reach at least 50 grams but more is better. also anything less can result in problems such as being egg bound. therefor you may loose your gecko. you should always wait at least a year. just becuase your geckos "got it on" that doesnt mean that she is for sure pregnant. you should sepperate them until she is at least a year and at least 50 grams.

I just did some reading on this. I typed in "Leopard Gecko Breeding" on Google and read a number of the pages I came up with on the subject. They all seemed to agree that A Leopard Gecko reaches Sexual Maturity at the age of between 10 months and 1.5 years. They also stated that a female is breedable at that age and 30-60G However most breeders wont consider any female for breeding untill she is at least 60G
