Air purifiers for snake rooms- Which ones do you guys use?

stevodod Feb 27, 2006 10:49 AM

Hey,

I'll be purchasing an air filter/purifer thingy for my snake/rat room. What do you recommend? It's a very small 6x10 room so it doesn't need much, just odor elimination without adding an external fan to annoy my neighbors.

Interested in all comments.

I've been thinking about buying one for my mouse house~ here's something I learned recently that marked one purifier right OFF the list~

Those living air ones~ they "sanitize" the air with ozone, like nature does. Sounds like a great idea~ except that ozone is a toxic gas......

Here is a link to the write up that put me off that brand:

Let us know which brand you choose and how it works!

I don't know if I'd ever use an air purifier as opposed to an air freshener. Either way I'd want something organic, not chemical. Ozone is toxic in large concentrations, However it has been proven to be medically beneficial in small concentrations. They are currently studying the effects of medical grade Ozone in AIDS patients in Cuba with unbeleivable results from what I understand. A year or two ago Time or People magazine had a huge article on Ozone and it's effects, can't find it online, anyone else read it?

i would suggest RAINBOW E-2 series air cleaner. it can sanitize the air and clean it of dust and dander, it can also aromatize the air as well. don't need to buy any filters etc either. it also comes with 8 other functions too, so you will find it very handy around the entire home, not just your mouse/rat/snake room.

I use a Honeywell 50200, which is HEPA approved. It's used for my rat room.

Has anyone ever used baking soda, like you do in your fridge? I was just thinking about putting a box or two around.

I use the Oreck XL professional air purifier. One for the snakes and one for the bedroom. The same one that is advertised on T.V. For my rats I have 2 gable fans mounted in the roof of the building on digital timers.
