It's a wierd angle but that looks lke a male to me. But lets here what other people have to say.

rhacsandacks Feb 27, 2006 06:13 PM

when I took the picture, I did not see any hemipenies, and I had people on the forum guess from vent pics, and people said she was a female.

I would call that a young male not yet fully mature. The pores can sometimes take up to 18 months to appear fully. I've had it happen to me... I've also had juvies that appear male lose the bulges and become very smooth and have no pores visible and turn out females. Its a guessing game much of the time until they're a year old really unless you can realiably sex temp which isn't always the case... There are still many males born at lower temps and many females born at higher temps. I've had people guarentee me geckos I bought were male or female and come to find out they weren't. I bought sa full stripe chocolate tremper albino for $65 shipped with the assurence is was a female.. its turned out to be a male and has gone into my full stripe tangerine albino project. I have 2 blizzards I bought as temp sexed females.. one or possibly both are males. Its still a crap-shoot in determining sex by temps because it isn't 100% reliable. More like 66% reliable.

Thats a male licking himself to help get his hemipenes back in. Leos don't "pleasure" themselves if thats what you were thinking.

rhacsandacks Feb 27, 2006 06:35 PM

its not a male, It didnt evert its hemis. I watched it for the 10 minutes it did it. I watched it start this and end it, nothing was out. Also, look at that vent pic. There are no pores and a minimal buldge.

Why do you have 2 accounts?

Rhacsandacks Feb 27, 2006 08:02 PM

no, we do not have two accounts. I own the leos and I took the picture. Coastalherper is my friend and breeding partner. I let him post the picture.

i am stumped on this one, in the first pic it looks to be male but in the vent pic it looks like a female. i have seen my males lick themselves afterwards and i have also caught my females licking themselves. my females were ready to lay though or they had gotten done laying. the males have licked themselves after they did the nasty nasty.

It's entirely possible they were just dirty after going potty or had a tickle.
