WTF gender help...!

toxicogenic Feb 27, 2006 11:47 PM

i have 2 whites tree frogs. one is definitely a male cause he vocalizes every night. the other one i thought was a female until last night. see the "female" got sick so i quarantined her and its been about a month now. my male was alone in the tank all this time and i had him quarantined for about a week now because he was not eating too well. NOW they are both together again. what makes me question my "female" is that my male sat on top of her and and she started to make this short little croaking noise as in to "get off". my question is do females make any noise at all? i would like to see if they breed but it wont work if they are both males. lol. soooo.....somone please help me out. hes been vocalizing every night so im assuming he is ready to mate? thanks for any help.

All frogs can make sounds.. but you will only hear the males calling. Females can make several different sounds though, usually a result of distress.

As for sexing them, Whites are pretty easy if they are mature. There will be an obvious size difference. The female will be much larger (longer and wider) My females are about 1" or 1 1/2" longer..
