to culture melagonaster fruit flies? I have run out of melagonaster ff medium, but have hydei medium left over. I am not culturing the hydei flies any more. Can I use that medium for melagonaster ff? I don't want to buy more medium until I go to IAD in May.

it doesn't produce as well, but it will work..

I think hydei just has more mold inhibiter in it. I have done it with ed's media and it did produce fly's.
