Heat tape isn't sticking too well

MightyPython Feb 28, 2006 01:16 PM

I have heat tape for belly heat on the bottom of my BP's sterilite container. Unfortunately I'm having a problem with it coming off all the time. I'm using black wire tape to hold it on, which will work for a while, but then the heat tape eventually comes off in certain spots. Plus, the bottom on the outside is uneven. Lots of grooves that I have to weave the tape in and out of. Anyway, can anybody here recommend a tape to use that is safe but sticks alot better than regular old wire tape? Is it possible that there is some kind of coating on the sterilite that makes it harder for the tape to stick to it? I just want to make sure this stops happening because obviously when it comes off like this, not as much heat gets inside the container in those spots. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank You!

You can buy foil tape at H. Depot or go here...

Thanks for the link. BTW, I think I screwed up on the name. It's heat "rope" that I believe Im using, not heat tape. You have to snake it back and forth across the bottom. Not sure if that makes any difference, but just thought I'd mention that. Is the heat tape better or are they both good heat sources? Thanks

Haha, for a second there, just reading the subject, I thought you were saying your heat tape isn't sticking. Im thinking, heat tape isn't sticky... Sorry, I just had a mental image of someone trying to get a piece of 3" flex to stick to something, haha, sorry, not making fun of you. Its one of those, tell me the first thing that comes to mind, kinda things...

good luck,

~Johnny
