Hypo Southern pines?

MartinWhalin1 Feb 28, 2006 02:16 PM

Hey I'm just slightly curious about the clutch of sopines I hatched last summer. They are the result of breeding a normal female to a leucistic male. Of course they all came out normal but none of them show the slightest amount of black anywhere on their bodies. I was just wondering if anybody has seen this, if it's breedable or is it just a slight variation. They are really beautiful and I'm getting ready to list them. I'm not trying to get rich but I don't want to sell them too cheap if they're worth a little more. Thanks. I'll post some pictures of them soon.

Martin,

It is fairly common with the bell line of southerns to have that happen, many times though as they age a little black will creep into the coloration. These in the picture are a little over a 2 weeks old. Southern babies are huge aren't they.

Thanks John. And yes they are huge and they grow fast. This was my first clutch and I was amazed at the size of the eggs let alone the size of the babies.
