Some questions about Musk Turtles...

katiejgirl Jul 27, 2003 04:34 PM

Hello, I am thinking about Musk turtles (I WAS gunna get red sliders, but then realized that they're HUGE, lol). So... I have a few questions to ask actual turtle owners :-D.

1. How large do they get?
2. Does anyone know any breeders where I can buy them CHEAP? lol

Thanks a bunch!!! You can email me at KatieJGirl@aol.com, or just post a reply :-D

Musks in the genus Sternotherus, ie common musks, razorback musks and the like, stay about 4-5 inches. I got mine for five bucks...

musks are unique species...actually my favorite but if u are wanting the species that swim around and are good "eye candy" there not the kind to look into getting...they are bottom dwellers but they dont get too big...a 20 gallon would fit for most species...i have 2 hatchlings in a 30 and a yearling in a 55 with 2 map turtles.
