Little Salamander

What do I feed my little Salamander? It's one I found in my backyard.I live in the gold country in California.

It's about 2" long, it was bright orange all over, but now it's got brown on it's back, and it has those big liquid brown eyes. I don't see any spots or stripes, but it might be too little to tell yet. It looks like the one they show at the begining of this forum. I don't know if there is such a thing as a common salamander, but I think it would be one if there was.

Well it's either an Ensatina or Taricha just based on geography assuming you mean the Sierra foothills.

Well? I found it some of these tiny white bugs inside the bark of a rotten log. Looked like baby termites. He eye-balled those and zapped 'em with his tongue. And I put some small earth worms in with him. I don't know if he has eaten them or not. If I can't find him anything more to eat, I'll just have to let the little guy go. As soon as I learn how to post a picture, I'll do so.
