Looks pure to me, due to how yellow she is. But then again, I suppose if you'd cross her with a diamond, it'd be hard to tell.

if i recall, there has been a big debate on whether or not there ARE any PURE jungles out there. due to the close proximity of the diferent types of carpets (jungle, coastal, irian jaya) cross breeding between the subspecies in the wild is a frequent occurence. so basically, just looking at a pic it is hard to tell if it is a PURE jcp or not. nice looking snake, though.

Seems as pure as a Jungle can get. What size is she? Jungles rarely exceed 6ft in captivity but 8ft has been recorded in the wild (again, was this a 'pure' specimen?). Jungles are typically smaller than Coastals with brighter yellows and darker / black between. If you have access to a copy of Barker & Barker's book 'Pythons of the World Volume one: Australia' they give a very detailed description of the various Morelia spilota subspecies

I'd say she looks pretty close to pure to my eyes...but I to have a breeding pair that look alot like your female. I bought them from their first owner that got them from Glade Herps (no paperwork lost in the shuffle). And according to Anthony C. and a few others from www.moreliapythons.com they aren't to pure without the right papers...? Kind of like a dog if they aren't akc registered they just aren't pure...lol.
I would believe this to be an example of a "pure" Jungle Carpet. I have animals that closely resemble the one in the picture from a reputable breeder here in California.
As mentioned above, "pure" is hard to verify in JCs, as they are found in the exact same places as coastals along the Atherton Table in Queensland, and interbreed naturally. Does it look like what we tend to think of as a "Jungle"? Yes. Is it genetically pure? Who knows.

thank you. thats exactly what i was trying to say. when someone asks me, "does this snake look pure?" i look at it (the question..not the snake) from the genetic perspective, not the physical appearance side.
