viper gecko breeding

otis07 Mar 01, 2006 01:46 PM

i just got a male viper gecko, i think he is like 7-9 months and my female is like 13-15 months, they are in the same cage now and i did some research, but still have questions. i read that you should line that cage with saran wrap, why? and if you are using a box for the female to lay in, when do you put that in? any information would be greatly appriciated, thanks! oh, here is their tank

I have three viper gecko females laying this year and I have had no need for saran wrap, which is used for geckos that lay eggs that stick to the tank. My gecko's eggs do not stick and are easily removed from their sand. Make sure you feed your gecko enough and give her enough calcium while she is laying because she can go through both very quickly. I dust my girls crickets every time while they are laying. Also I don't use a lay box and dont think my girls would lay in it anyway, but they have laid every clutch in the corners of the tank. The only thing I might worry about and then not much is the depth of the sand in your tank. My girls always dig to the bottom of the tank and that may be a little deep for her, I would just wait and see. good luck
