Honduran Milk Cage stuff...

xenophon Mar 01, 2006 02:37 PM

Hello everyone,

I am intersted in getting a pair of honduran milk snakes, and I was wondering about what sort of tank to get. I live in a small apartment where space is an issue, so I was considering getting a rack system (I have a few other snakes as well). What do you reccomend as far as inexpensive plastic cages (i.e. rubbermaid or the like)?

Thanks,
Quintin

Check out www.reptiletubs.com. I just placed an order with them and they seem real cool. I haven't received them, but they look solid, and have a great variety of sizes.

Good to hear your going for the Hondos. I got my inexpensive racks from Home Depot. The cheap little white one(I think it was thirty bucks), it can hold six 40qt containers without useing the top shelf! But if you want to display them may I suggest going with Visionariums. These little cages are great, study, and have a front slider. They have great ventilation and room for a flouresent light even when you stack'em. Remember to have room for expansion because with all the color morphs your going to want more!

I'm interested in the inexpensive racks you mentioned that you got from Home Depot. Can you get them already assembled or do you have to assemble it? If I ask a Home Depot person about it, how should I call them or how should I describle it to them... or what isle at Home depot should I go to?

Can you shoot a pic of your racks and send them to either me or this forum? Basically, I'd like to see if that kind of housing would work for me and would be great to know how yours is set up.

A lot of questions huh, but it got me thinking of whether I should change my set up to accommodate expansion of my hondo colony.

Thanks !

Here's a pic of my little rack system. It's just under five feet tall, three feet wide. It suits me well, in my loft I have a hiegth of about five feet and then it starts cutting up towards the ceiling. As far as assembly, well, it would take a chimpanzee about five minutes. They have a couple different styles of plastic shelving systems, some a lot bigger and you can actually put more on top of each other.
Hope this helps Ray and Quintin!

And one more of a Visionarium set-up!

The rack pic really helps a lot. I'll check out Home Depot this weekend and see what I can do for myself.

The visionary set up looks great...like a showcase!!

Thanks again,
