Help! Eye problem

drykilllogic83 Mar 01, 2006 04:45 PM

Well my adult red tegu is having a eye lid problem. It appears that she can not open her right eye lid or it hurt to do so. I have noticed that she tries to scratch her eye with her back leg. This obviiously indicates that it is irriating or maybe hurting her. Has anybody had this problem with their tegu? What should be done? I am scheduling a vet appointment tomorrow because that is when I get my new work schedule. Thanks in advance for the input

What kind of substrat are you using?? I had this same problem with one of my waterdragons. He got a piece of wood in it from the substrat. I took him to the vet and the vet flushed out his eye and i had to put eye drops in it for 2 weeks (not an easy thing to do)
Good Luck.

my reds have had this problem before and it always turned out to be a shed problem.
