Could he be a reverse okeetee?

Spardawolf Jul 27, 2003 05:26 PM

This is a pic of the amel I got a couple of weeks ago on trade. I was just wondering if he might be a reverse okeetee. He doesn't look like the other amels I saw there. And he has that funny little "S" saddle, like I said it the previous post. I was wondering if he might produce some zig zags in future generations. Whatever he is I think he is a cutie. Thanks for looking. PS: his red saddles are darker red in person, the pic seemed to have lightened him up some.

That could be the twin of the corn I just bought my son at the White Plains show! He requested "Orange and white" (he's 8) so I saw this little guy and got him. This is my first corn snake. I keep Ball Pythons. They called him an "albino sunglow". No clue as to what that is....now I hear "reverse Okeetee". Anyone want to inform me of the difference? They DO look exactly the same....

A reverse okeetee should have broad white borders around the saddles, while a sunglow shouldn't have any white around the saddles. Check out these links for pics.

There are pics of pretty much all the corn morphs on this page. Just look at the Reverse Okeetee and Sunglow links.

Also,
Here's a reverse okeetee I just purchased a couple weeks ago

Great site, btw. So, I won't be able to tell for sure what he is until he grows and sheds a few times, to see if the white stays present or fades? I like my Ball Pythons, but the corns sound like FUN, to breed them and see what you end up with! Since getting this little guy, named "Speedy" because he's so much faster than the BPs, I've been frequenting this forum more and more. Seeing the results of some of the clutches amazes me. Thanks for the clarification, all.

The difference is really hard to tell when the a new born, but a a true sunglow will have little or now white around the saddles when it is an adult. The reverse okeetee will have white around the saddles. Here is a pic of a 03 reverse okeetee. sunglows to follow.

But are both forms of albinism? My little guy has pink eyes.

I have always been under the impression that the genetics of some sunglows are a bit of a mystery. Ultimately they are both a form of amelanistic, BUT sunglows have had other influences which may or may not include: selectively breeding for little or no white, bloodred, or even hypo influences.

boscoman76 Jul 28, 2003 03:23 PM

yes they are. A sunglow is an amel(albino) that has been selectively breed to reduce the white. A reverse Okeetee is an Okeetee x Amel (this morph I belive was rich at www...com) He has great info on most corn snake morphs. Email me if you want me to give you the address.
