What is the most eggs you could anticipate from a 1600 gram female? I have a couple this size and was going to skip breeding them until next year. I'm not big on breeding them if they are around the minimum recommended size (assuming 1500 grams is that min.). Am I just being over cautious or should I just breed them? But then again, is it too late.

Not sure about most but here is a formula I came up with for average - divide weight in grams by 330. Females generally put about 1/3 of their pre-lay weight into the clutch. The bigger variable is the size of the eggs. In general smaller eggs with smaller/younger girls but 110 grams each might be about average. So you might get around 5 eggs each from females that size.

I would say anywhere from zero to about 6 or so....7 would be a stretch. I had 2200 gram virgin give me just four last year.

Was that 4 good or 4 total? Did you get a weight on the total clutch? I'm sure there are exceptions to the 1/3 rule but mainly it's the size of the eggs that varies.

Yeah 4 good, no slugs. I did not weigh the eggs. I think my personal largest clutch to female weight (back when I obsessively collected all kinds of data) was about 43%.

5 even...............4 yea..........and people have gotten just 2 from bigger......

I have had **(I do not weigh but this year have weighed some and can guess average weight).......I have gotten 7 ...8....and 9 even from 20 month olds about that big.........

I have also gotten NO eggs from 2 girls that are still about 1800 grams and are now 4 years old almost......
