Educational Show Question / Concern

toaster529 Mar 01, 2006 07:57 PM

Hi.
Quick questions for some of you who may have done education shows at schools, churches etc...

Is there any need to get any kind of insurance (for lack of a better term) or have any waivers signed before doing an educational show?

Obviously, I would be responsible and not let the 4 foot nile run around and eat kids, but in this "file a lawsuit because my McDonalds coffee was too hot" world, I'd like to make sure my bases are covered.

Like some kid pets a gator, the parents buy him spoiled taco bell that night for dinner, then sue me because "the gator gave him salmonella" type deal. LOL.

Anyone?

Thanks,
greg

It's always a good idea to have insurance. I think you will find that it's more money than you are thinking though. From what I have found it's about $4000 a year. A waiver won't do much in a school setting unless all the parents were to sign it. Chances are the school wouldn't let you do your demo. Check with your home owner's policy. They may cover your animals on a limited basis - I wouldn't tell them exactly what you are doing.

If you find someone please pass the contact info along to us.

Thanks
