Amsterdam: A city man upset that his roommate's child had made a mess of the house stomped the child's lizard to death, according to police.
Jerome L. Green, 23, of High Street, was arrested Saturday evening and charged with one count of misdemeanor animal torture, a provision under Buster's Law.
Police said Green smashed the glass on the lizard's aquarium, cutting himself in the process.
He then threw the animal onto the kitchen floor, repeatedly stomped on it, and then threw it on the roof of the building, said Lt. Tom DiMezza.
DiMezza said he did not know the specific type of lizard or how old it was.
Green was released with an appearance ticket and is due back in City Court this morning.
