Lizard Identification

Phantom10 Jul 27, 2003 07:01 PM

I live in Portland, OR and saw a lizard about 2-3 inches long that I've never seen before. Its body was brown and yellow striped and its tail was an effervescent blue. Does anyone have an idea what it was?

Some kind of skink, the juviniles have bright blue tails that fade to normal colors as they age.

A juvenile skink. Several US skink species display colours like this as babies.
