Health question

nymph Mar 02, 2006 08:05 PM

Ok guys, just one more question about my little guy. As long as he is drinking and green and active and eating he should be ok right. I would notice if he wasn't right, I mean he would not be eating or drinking or moving around a lot right?? Just making sure, because I know with some animals, unfortunatly you don't know until they are knocking on the pearly gates. So I just want to make sure that with chameleons there is a sign. But I would imagine with him being so young I would not know. Is that about right??? Thanks.

Eating and drinking along with moving around are all good signs. You don't need to worry about him. A dark color could be a sign he is too hot. If he is sleeping in the daytime then something is wrong. When he gets older he may not eat as much, some of my Adult males don't eat for a week or more but the never seem to lose any weight. If he stops moving around and stays in one spot for a long time, make sure he is not sleeping during the day, otherwise, don't worry about him.

Chameleons are creatures that do not give much warning when ill. Unless you have a very trained eye, not even that is enough sometimes.

Yeah, that is what I was wondering because I know with birds, and snakes depending on what is wrong you might not know until it is to late. When my bird got sick, I tried everything and spent so much money at the vet and with supplements, and antibiotic, antifungal, so many things, but in the end, he was just to sick. My poor snake had a genetic problem so she did not make it past 3. That is the hardest part about loving our animals is losing them. Especially when you think they are doing better and they might be ok and then you lose them. Thanks for the info.
