Anyone might know if they are bred/breedable in captivity? I'd sure like to have one....

I strongly doubt it...the Pacific Giant Salamander is on the red list. It would be illegal to own them without special permits... Sorry

the bag limit is 4 in Cali with a fishing licence. Not for commercial use-You have to catch your own!

ON THE SPECIES YOU WANT. The Cope's Giant salamander is considered threatened.. but the Pacific Giant is legal to catch..At least in Oregon it is.. I checked with the Fish and game about them recently.. BUT captive breeding is very unlikely.. Since there status in wild is pretty stable. THEY are very hard to find though.. I would LOVE to photograph one. I guess you have to go out in Late fall, early spring during a late night rain fall..and listen for the barking(they have a voice)..which is so cool..

I do not know what the laws are in washington or california..so check with F&G if you try to catch yourself

cheers,

harpy
