Do u think this Leopard Boa is Breedable

reptimals Mar 02, 2006 11:34 PM

Hey all , this is one of my female leopard boas ... she is around 3 and a half years old... i was curious what u guys thought about if she looks breedable or not ??? I know they stay small and can breed a bit smaller then most boas but i want to be sure .. i have a male leopard boa that is just 34 inches and is a breeding machine .. so i know they breed at smaller sizes .. i just dont want to breed her if she is to small .. she is defitnely old enough to breed .. but i am not sure if she is considered "big enough" ... i had several people say she can breed but i wanna be sure .. i weighed her a while back and she was a bit over 4 pounds...

let me know what u think ... thanks

Sonorans do not get nearly the size of Colombians. Males can always breed younger and at smaller sizes, in any species. At 3.5 years, she should be ready. I would say wait until this fall and let your pair have at it. Good luck!

agree with Phil and say wait until this fall. I would think she is ready though.

You might want to email the Burkes, Tracy Barker, or Jeremy Stone. They have all bred Leopard females. Gus Rentfro should be able to help you with the size of breeder Sonoran females as well.

Even if she's ready you have your doubts, so why not let her mature one more year. Her litter will probably be that much better. She's a looker!

I personally would advise you to wait another season. I would not breed my female sonorans until they are at least 4 years old and 4.5ft.
