Bullfrog with possible fungus?

fraggle918 Mar 03, 2006 01:21 AM

I have recently taken in a Bullfrog. A Friend of mine found it sitting in a parking lot here in ohio. It's been snowing here. He is very active and has a good appetite. I noticed over the past week he has developed white spots on his eye lid, hind legs and on his back. Is it a fungus? If so what is the best way to treat it? I have read a variety of different things about using fish meds on amphibians and am not sure what to do? Is Malchite Green, Formalin, or Methylene Blue safe? Maroxy?

I don't think I would use any of the aquarium products. Frog skin tends to absorb everything, but then I would think a fishes gills would to. I have used Neosporin on a few frogs with scrapes with great success without any side effects. I would think it would kill fungus as well. Perhaps an athletes foot cream in moderation. I don’t think fungus like sunlight/UV so that might be a drugless solution as well.
