Has anyone used bondo to makr fake rocks? It is a fiberglass epoxy that car body shops use in body work. It is light weight can be spread how ever thick over screen wire forms. Any imput will be appreaciated. Thanks atrox182

I use to sell it for a year, along with auto stuff. I guess it could be used, and I sold stuff mid 1980's, but bond was not fiberglass. There is a re inforced fiberglass filler, but man that stuff is heavy. Not to mention the fumes. It's also not water proof, you have to cover it. So with all that in mind, I'd use some plaster base material. Lots of variety, from molers plaster to ones stronger to lightweght concrete. Sorry I don't recall all the types. It's used a lot in model trains.

I think Bondo makes two different body-fill products. I know one is popular among woodworkers, even though that's not the intended application, and is considered to be water-proof. Not sure which one, however.
I have seen it used in faux rockwork. Looked pretty good.
Bondo, is a plastic based 2 part body filler. To make any kind of sizeable faux rock formation you'd be better off with fiberglass resin. You can make your shapes out of polystyrene foam and a torch and cover with resin coverd cloth. It's also non toxic when dry.
