Normal Uro behaviour?

stevienr Mar 03, 2006 12:11 PM

Hello,

I very recently purchased a CB Saharan Uro who is 7 months old. She's (for now anyway!)great, but she's making these funny movements, and I want to ensure all is good. She's my first Uro, so although I've done my research, I haven't come across this behaviour described anywhere. It may be normal, but I just want to make sure, since I'm new with Uros. Call me paranoid maybe, but better safe than sorry.

When she's laying, sometimes she'll move her body in a kind of 'S' pattern. Her legs stay still, it's just her body squirming around. It's not continuous. She'll do it once or twice and then just bask. I thought maybe this is a natural movement? Maybe something they would do in the sand to make a comfy spot?? Since she's only 7 months, I have her on paper towel with some hiding spots.

Any help would be appreciated. THANKS!!

Lol, that is a typical Uro saying "Leave me alone or I'll mess you up!" Hope that helps.

They also do this, as you guessed, to get as much body contact with the hot substrate as possible. To get "comfy". Now, if you are doing something and they "S" dance AT you... watch out!!

Either way, completely normal Isn't it cute!

Mine still do this but it's for getting comfy. I have noticed a slight difference in the behaviours. If they're getting comfy, they S-dance with their head up and alert, no outward signs of distress. If they S-dance with their head down and gaze firmly locked on you, they're pissed. Hope this helps.
