Adult Dumeril's Tank Size

Jabbano Mar 03, 2006 02:28 PM

I have my young Dumerils in a 20 gallon tank right now, and I know that this size will obviously be inadequate within a year.

However, I have a 40 gallon "breeder" tank sitting in my garage. I was wondering if this tank is large enough to house an adult 6-7 foot Dumerils. If not, what is the recommended enclosure for an adult?

The 40 will last you for awhile, but you will most definitley need to graduate to something larger once the snake reaches adulthood

a 40 gal is just fine. you can larger if you want to give your snake a good touring area, but that isnt really needed. as far as size goes, ive got my two largest snakes (7ft redtail & 8.5 ft coastal carpet) in separate 30-40 gal tanks so housing a 6-7 ft dum in a 40 should be no problem.
