What is a good setup for new Veileds?

sned25271 Mar 03, 2006 04:52 PM

Before my eggs hatch, I want to have my setups done and ready. What is a good setup? How many babies to a cage?

Thanks

You didn't say what species of chameleon...but for veileds and panthers you can start of with about 5 or 6 in a 10 gallon aquarium or screen cage of about equal size. You need to watch them for problems and for size differences as they are growing and be ready to move any "troublemakers" or siblings that are either much bigger or much smaller than their cagemates.

The following articles will give you some idea. The caging depends somewhat on where you live. If you live in a warm climate where they can be outside all the time, then you will need screen cages, but if you are in a colder climate, you will likely be better off with aquariums with screen lids.
