Sins I don’t know much about them, I am wondering if they can be sexed this young.
Also the horned dragon (witch specie?)
Many thanks

Not easy from that Pic. The Gono looks male to me, the juvie MHD should be a capra.
Cheers

Oh sorry
Don’t know why but I tot they had color dimorphism.
I was just being curious as theirs no rush in knowing there gender. However the gono looks like a male to me?
Also is it normal for my just nested female to be brown? Or should I be alarmed?
Rgds

Nice looking little capra! May I ask where you got such a nice looking little one? Import or is there someone else out there breeding them?
It may be large enough to sex. If you gently lift the tail you should see hemipenal bulge if a male or abscense of if a female. A female has more prominent hip bones than the male and her tail is more slendar from the vent down while the males is wide for a distance and then abruptly narrows.

Thanks for the info, I will check it out when he/she’s not on a full stomach, I fed them this morning. These are wild collected, they where given to me because of there handicap, the little gono is amputated left front arm and the capra is amputated left rear leg, probably the result of snare traps?

ps. love your site

You are so lucky to be able to be working with the Gonos. They are beauties! I guess there are a couple of breeders in TX working with them now and I know that the Denver Zoo hatched some out a couple of years ago. The Omaha Zoo got some from them but they aren't on display yet. I keep trying to make arrangements with a friend to get a tour so I can see them but keep missing him. I'm planning to call in advance next trip down.
Sad that the little ones lost limbs but I have known folk who have kept animals with such handicaps and the animals have faired well. Generally the MHDs are pretty easy to sex, pretty much like bearded dragons. The older they get the easier it is to tell.
I always like positive feedback on my site, thanks! ; )
I have put it out there to help the species and feel that it actually is starting to accomplish that end. It's a good feeling.
I am wishing you great success with the eggs!
