Ok, Im 3 pages in and already things dont make sense. When God says "Let US make humankind in OUR image....." who is he talking to, who is us". Then god tells adam and eve not to eat the fruit or they will die, they eat the fruit, and god says, "see, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil, and now he might reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever" Any insight into this??????? Perhaps he just means eventually you will die???? And what evil did god know? Im more interested in hearing some thoughts about the first one, but its all interesting. thanks for playing.

The Bible is full of contradictions that a thinking person can readily see. That's why they used to burn thinking people at the stake.

The original word is plural. Falls into line with the belief that God is 3 in one ( Father ,Son , Holy spirit)

You are your childs FATHER
You are your parents SON
You are your wifes HUSBAND One person, acting out 3 parts.

I am not here to apologize for believing or to argue and get ugly.Alot of things worthwhile take time and effort to try to understand.Computers for example.

"Alot of things worthwhile take time and effort to try to understand.Computers for example."
Biology is another example.

Put the book down and back away slowly.

I know I know, I actually would like to read it though, just so I know what Im talking about. Or more correctly, what others are talking about. I suppose this could be the longest thread ever if we went page by page.

If we really want to know what people are talking about (and I know I don't), a subscription to "People" or "Us" should fit the bill.

the us in genesis is referring to the first and only begotten son of God.(this being the only one created directly by God and only him. all other angels and the physical heavens and of course the earth were created by God {through} Jesus in his prehuman existence)(Colossians 1:13-18) As for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad, this was symbolic of God's right to decide what was right or wrong for those he created.By eating that fruit Adam decided for himself what was right and what was wrong. The discipline given was exactly as God said it would be-death-.Genesis 2:17,19 3:22 If Adam had not eaten from the tree he and all mankind would have lived forever or to time indefinite on the earth (where they were created to inhabit).Isaiah 45:17 that hope still exists for Psalm 37:29 and many other scriptures such as Revelation 21:1-4 tell us this is so. The Bible is not contradictory it is just taught out of context and misunderstood by most religious leaders.

How is the bible not contradictory if it can be taught out of context and misunderstood by most religious leaders? This is far from a rational definition of truth.

This explanation is reasonable and makes sense. And is scriptural. Backed up by God's word. Good job. Isaiah 43:10

Billy H is right about the order in which most people read the Bible. It isn't ment to be read through like a novel.
If anyone, at any time reads this thread and would like a reading plan that follows the Bible chronoligicly, i.e. tells the story, e-mail me at my login name @ yahoo and I will send you the list. If you read every night, it should take you about 7 months.
