Black Boas

senorsnake Mar 04, 2006 01:48 PM

Hi, I recently saw one of these for the 1st time, and I think they are the most beautiful boas morph ever. I dont know if they are good for anything but being pretty, but they are really pretty.
1. Does anyone have one? I would love to get my hands on one.
2. What makes them black? I heard it was Hypermelanism?
3. Are they good for breeding to anything? or jsut pretty? i want one either way.
4. how cool would a jet black boa and a snow boa look together in a really nice display case?

www.boarepublic.com and you'll see the real Black Boa. The patternless black boa was made by breeding a C.A. Motley to another C.A. Motley. The black boa is the super motley. The same thing goes for the Columbian motley's but the supers from them are more of a purpleish brown. Hope this helps.

Do you think that an albino version on the super motley might be the next step in producing a pure white snake?

I think senorsnakes means this one which is mine :D. Not a super motley, but a melanistic or hipermelanistic one which I acquired recently. Its pattern is barely visible, the belly is almost as normal with many dark spots, there is some orange on the head and some tail pattern but real black.
Unfortunately to me both of my albinos are males so as the black one. But will wait until one of my friends baby albino females grows in a couple years.

Cheers
